Checked against the approved list

BW-BAT-9.6P suspended from the approved list on 15 September 2026

The BW-BAT-9.6P and its variants I to VI were suspended from the approved list on 15 September 2026. Installs of those models earn no certificates unless the suspension is lifted; the manufacturer has until 14 December 2026 to fix the listing. (Clean Energy Council, checked )

BW-BAT-10.1P

Waiting past 31 Dec 2026 costs $440

Don't count on a federal rebate for a BW-BAT-9.6P installed while it is suspended. The fix deadline of 14 December falls two and a half weeks before the step-down, so if timing matters, get the model number in writing. The BW-BAT-10.1P is unaffected.

What the suspension means

The Clean Energy Council suspended seven BW-BAT-9.6P variants (the base model and versions I to VI) because nameplate labels on stock supplied in Australia did not match the documents submitted for listing. It says the decision was not about product safety. The manufacturer has until 14 December 2026 to fix the problem; if it does, the batteries are eligible again from the day the suspension lifts.

Until then, certificate claims for a suspended model installed from 15 September are rejected. If you have signed for a Neovolt battery, ask the installer which model number is going on your wall and check it against the approved list on the install date.

The BW-BAT-10.1P, listed at 10.1 kWh nominal and 9.6 kWh usable (BAT-1090, to 31 December 2027), is not part of the suspension. Its rebate is in the table above.

Other Neovolt batteries on the list

Neovolt batteries are made by Bytewatt Technology and imported by Solar Capital Australia, according to the Clean Energy Council's notice. Two Neovolt models remain on the list: the BW-BAT-10.1P and the BW-BAT-4.8S.

Before you sign for a BW-BAT-10.1P

  • Ask the installer for the exact model number before you sign. BW-BAT-9.6P in any form is suspended; BW-BAT-10.1P is listed.
  • The BW-BAT-4.8S is listed at 4.8 kWh nominal, below the 5 kWh minimum, so on its own it doesn't qualify for the discount.
  • If you already have a quote for a BW-BAT-9.6P, ask who carries the risk if the suspension isn't lifted before your install date.
