BYD Battery-Box Premium HVM rebate
Checked against the approved list
Listed until 5 December 2026. Installs after that need a renewed listing to earn certificates; rule 1.
HVM 8.3, the smallest listed size
Waiting past 31 Dec 2026 costs $360
If an HVM-family battery is going in this year, make sure the quote names a model that will still be listed on the install date. On the rebate maths alone, 13.8 kWh is the size that gets every kilowatt-hour at the full rate.

How the Battery-Box Premium HVM sizes land on the taper
BYD's HVM listing, BAT-451, carries a 5 December 2026 end date. An HVM certified after it can only claim if BYD renews the listing in time, and nothing on the list says whether it will.
BYD has already listed a successor with identical sizes. The HVM+ (BAT-1039) runs to 31 December 2027, so the rebate figures in the table hold for it too. If your install falls in December, ask whether the quote can be for the HVM+.
On size, the HVM 13.8 is the largest that sits wholly in the full-factor band. Each module after it adds 2.76 kWh at 60%, so going from 13.8 to 22.1 kWh adds less rebate than going from 8.3 to 13.8 kWh.
Other BYD batteries on the list
BYD has eight battery families on the list, all recorded with usable equal to nominal. The HVM and HVM+ share sizes. The HVB (5.9 to 29.7 kWh) and HVE (6.4 to 23.6 kWh) are newer high-voltage ranges listed to the end of 2027, and the low-voltage LVS is a different product whose listing also ends in December 2026, on the 7th.
Before you sign for a Battery-Box Premium HVM
- Ask whether the quote is for the HVM or the HVM+, and which listing will be current on the install date.
- Get the module count as well as the size: each HVM module is 2.76 kWh, so the HVM 16.6 is six modules.
- BYD's newer HVB range is listed separately, in sizes from 5.9 to 29.6 kWh; if you are quoted an HVB, enter its usable capacity in the calculator.
