AlphaESS SMILE-G3 rebate

Checked against the approved list

1 × BAT-10.1P, the smallest listed size

Waiting past 31 Dec 2026 costs $440

For the rebate, one to three modules is where the SMILE-G3 earns its keep. A fourth module adds under a fifth of what the second did, so buy it for your evening usage, not for the discount.

VoltX Energy sells the AlphaESS SMILE-G3 in NSW, ACT, QLD, SA and VIC.

How the SMILE-G3 sizes land on the taper

One BAT-10.1P module gives 9.6 kWh usable, all of it inside the first 14 kWh, where the factor applies in full. The label says 10.1 kWh, but the certificates follow the 9.6 kWh usable figure on the Clean Energy Council list.

The second module takes the stack to 19.2 kWh: 4.4 kWh of the new module still earns the full factor and the other 5.2 kWh earn 60%. The third (28.7 kWh) earns 60% on almost all of its capacity, with 0.7 kWh spilling into the 15% band.

From the fourth module on, nearly every added kilowatt-hour sits in the 15% band, and a six-module stack's 57.5 kWh runs 7.5 kWh past the 50 kWh limit, which earns nothing. Going from three modules to six adds less rebate than the second module did on its own.

Other AlphaESS batteries on the list

AlphaESS has more than a dozen battery families on the approved list. Two matter most for SMILE-G3 quotes: the BAT-10.1P modules on this page, listed at 95% usable, and the SMILE-G3-BAT-9.3S, whose 9.3 kWh label is also its usable figure. Three 9.3S modules are listed at 27.9 kWh usable, just under the 28 kWh edge, where three 10.1P modules reach 28.7.

Before you sign for a SMILE-G3

  • Make sure the quote says SMILE-G3 BAT-10.1P. The older SMILE-BAT-10.1P is a separate listing at 9.07 kWh usable per module, about half a kilowatt-hour less.
  • Count modules, not label kilowatt-hours: three modules are 28.7 kWh usable on the list, not the 30.3 kWh that three 10.1 kWh labels add up to.
  • If the installer suggests a fourth module, ask what it is for. Its rebate is small, so the case for it has to rest on your evening usage.
